Christmas Day is for everyone!

And yet for many people, Christmas day can be less then the hoped for day of peace, joy, hope and love. In 2015, three friends were themselves facing the prospect of a Christmas day far from family and friends, themselves having recently moved to Alexandra. Thinking they could “do something” they set about resurrecting a meal open to all: for the people, and visitors of Central Otago.

With a little over three weeks they pulled off what was considered almost impossible: cooking and hosting Christmas dinner for 60 people on the St Enoch’s church lawn. Help from businesses and the wonderful people of Alexandra allowed people who would have spent Christmas alone, or unable to celebrate in a way of their hoping, to enjoy the festivities.

We would love your participation, to help Alexandra and Central Otago again celebrate Christmas Day this year.

Location

The Alexandra Community Christmas BBQ Lunch is located in the sheltered green space area between Alexandra Community House and St Enoch’s Church. This location gives us good access to the facilities and resources of both the Church and Alexandra Community house. The area has great shade provided by a magnificent Oak Tree and is well sheltered from most winds. If it is really wet we can make use of the large room of Alexandra Community House.

Internet Provider

Parking:

Is somewhat limited on site, so if you are able, there is adequate parking on the street either on Centennial Avenue or on Ennis Street. Lets keep the close and easy parks located behind community house for those that really need them.

Seating:

While it is a BBQ style meal, we will have adequate seating and tables set up – there is no need to stand.
